We all deserve to feel AND look our best – inside, out.
Self-care for moms is something I hold with the utmost importance. Being a mom, we play tons of roles. Of course, these roles differ from family to family – depending on needs and preferences.
I think we can all agree: as moms, we often play “the juggling act.” There’s just always so much to do and think about.
You know what, mama? You deserve to slow down.
If you find that you have very few moments to unwind and relax, now’s the time to figure it out for yourself.
Here are some of our best tips and tricks for self-care – even when you’re a busy mom.
Self-Care for Moms: Tips & Tricks
We all deserve a break, even if it’s just for minutes at a time. “Adulting” definitely gets hectic, and being a parent has a whole other load of responsibilities.
Here’s a quote that has always resonated with me: “Taking care of yourself is part of taking care of your kids.”
Proper self-care allows you to be your best self: enabling you to have the energy, confidence, and health to take care of your loved ones.
These are some ways to incorporate self-care into your daily routine:
Don’t Plan it Out Alone
Work something out with your family/partner so that time is actually set aside for your self-care regimens.
My husband and I take turns for our “me time” moments. We work it into our family’s busy schedule. This way, I know he’s taking care of everything while I have my alone time (and vice versa for when he has his time).
Find a Skin Routine
Some of my favourite moments in the day are when I get to take care of my skin – and that’s with my morning and night facial regimens.
My skin routine is simple and effective. It makes me feel great because I know I’m continuously taking care of myself. The steps incorporated into the regime is almost spa-like (hello, jade roller!), making me feel fresh throughout the day.
Read a Book
Pre-parenthood, I read tons of books on a regular basis. In fact, I would partake in a “50 Book Challenge” and loved every aspect of it.
Fast forward to becoming a parent… that hobby quickly flew out the window. I don’t mind because my priorities have (obviously) shifted. However, I now sculpt some reading time on weekends. On Saturday and Sunday evenings, rather than browsing my phone mindlessly, I read a book instead.
Get Up and Get Ready
As a work-at-home-mom, I feel 100% more productive when I actually get ready for my work day.
I like to put on makeup and dress up. This is ideal for my line of work. As a digital content creator, I often find myself in front of the camera – whether it be on Instagram stories or a video conference. Getting prepped in the morning is not only a form of self-care, but ensures that I am ready to tackle anything in my busy work day.
Now that I’m pregnant, I’ve been on the hunt for functional and beautiful maternity wear. Luckily, I recently discovered Pink Blush Maternity’s beautiful line of pregnancy clothes. I have fallen hard for their pieces. I’ve started quite the collection from their maternity dress line – and I can’t get enough!
Unique, graceful, and comfortable – I constantly receive compliments every time I sport something from Pink Blush Maternity. It certainly makes getting ready in the morning that much more worth it!
Enjoy Your Cup of Coffee
I hear it all the time: moms’ coffees are always cold because they’re just so busy.
Stop letting this happen! (Unless you’re enjoying a delicious cold brew – which I encourage you to sip on… go on! Enjoy it!)
I have to say, my morning “cup of Joe” is my saving grace. It’s something I look forward to every day. As a part of my self-care routine, I make sure that I can enjoy my coffee… hot and flavourful. I do this by implementing quiet time for the whole family in the morning or drinking my brew with breakfast (a meal that we all love).
Whether it’s your morning tea, smoothie, lemon water… just be sure to enjoy it. It’s what kick starts your day!
