…because summer isn’t technically over until September 22nd: here’s why we spend our summer weekends at Fairmont Montebello.

Thank you to Fairmont Montebello for hosting our most recent stay – we always love staying with you!
I’ve always loved the idea of owning a cottage. Imagine: going “up north” to a peaceful, tranquil setting, knowing that all of your summer weekends are booked. What better way to spend Saturday and Sunday than in a quaint, beautifully-decorated cottage… where the lake is nearby and the air is fresh. Yes, yes, and yes!
Since Joe and I are just starting our little family, we haven’t yet talked (seriously) about purchasing a cottage of our own. Because we’re keen on the idea of heading somewhere cozy during our days off, we’ve made it a point to frequent Fairmont Montebello.
You know why? Fairmont Montebello can be treated exactly how you imagine your ideal cottage to be: welcoming with its rustic-chic décor, pantries filled with good food, and plenty of family-friendly activities.
How to Spend Summer Weekends at Fairmont Montebello
Situated along the Ottawa River, Fairmont Montebello (officially known as: Fairmont Le Château Montebello) boasts 211 guest rooms (6 of which include a jacuzzi!). Its grounds are massive, which is why they are able to facilitate so many fun activities, all of which are totally family-friendly. So whether you’re 0 or 99 years young, there’s a way for everyone to relax and enjoy.
When we’re at Fairmont Montebello, we almost feel like we’re in an all-inclusive resort. Between swimming at their outdoor and indoor pools or playing a game of squash, you’ll never hear anyone saying: “I’m so bored, please find me something to do!”
In fact, I could almost imagine Leo telling the tale of how he spends his time at Fairmont Montbello:
A Walk in the Park
“Hey guys! It’s me, Leo! To start off my stays at Fairmont Montebello, I head to the park once mom and dad are done checking-in. There’s so much park equipment to choose from – I can play there for hours! Not to mention, everything is always so clean and in good condition – perfect for a kiddo like me!”

Bicycle Time!
“Did you know that my very first time on a bike was when I first visited Fairmont Montebello?! Mom and dad made me wear a helmet – something I wasn’t too keen on at first, but then they told me it was for my safety. Mama and pops were able to borrow the bikes at the bike station, right next to the park I play in!”

Hole-in-One
“For some reason, mom and dad won’t let me play mini-putt all on my own but it’s something I love to do with them. It’s right next to the park, too! I get all my favorite activities in one section: score!”

I’m On a Boat!
“Well, I haven’t been on one yet but I love going down to the marina. There’s plenty of space for me to play and mommy and daddy always say how beautiful the view is.”

Relax and Unwind
“It isn’t a trip up north unless we get to kick our feet back and I get to cuddle with mom! Psst: the hotel supplies these super-cute, super-soft bathrobes for kiddos like me!”
